여행 상세보기

Changdeokgung Palace

Changdeokgung Palace was the second royal villa built following the construction of Gyeongbukgung Palace in 1405. It was the principal palace for many kings of the Joseon Dynasty, and is the most well-preserved of the five remaining royal Joseon palaces. The palace grounds are comprised of a public palace area, a royal family residence building, and the rear garden. Known as a place of rest for the kings, the rear garden boasts a gigantic tree that is over 300 years old, a small pond and a pavilion.

Insa-dong

Insa-dong, located in the heart of the city, is an important place where old but precious and traditional goods are on display. There is one main road in Insa-dong with alleys on each side. Within these alleys are galleries and traditional restaurants, teahouses, and cafes.

The Royal Guard-Changing Ceremony at Gyeongbokgung Palace

In ancient times, the royal guards of Joseon Dynasty performed the given task by guarding Gwanghwamun Gate, which is the entrance of Gyeongbokgung Palace where the king ruled the country. The ceremony has been taking place regularly since 1469, with the present reenactment ceremony being based on historical records for authenticity. The reenactment of the original ceremony began in 1996. The gate guardsmen serve their sentry, perform the changing of the guards, and hold a parade. The guards' uniforms, weapons, accessories, as well as their strict ceremonial procedures, catch the eyes of passersby, especially foreign tourists.

"The Story of Sejong" and "The Story of Admiral Yi Sun-shin" Exhibition

"The Story of King Sejong" and "The Story of Admiral Yi Sun-shin" are exhibition displays of two of Korea's national heroes, King Sejong and Admiral Yi. Learn the stories behind their success and all the contributions they made for the country. Foreign visitors can learn how to write their names in Korean calligraphy on a piece of rice paper. You can keep one copy to take home and exhibit another copy on the wall of the exhibition hall.
